Ways to Help

Our pride in nurturing the High School for Leadership and Public Service (HSLAPS, or Leadership) grows each year. Founded in 1993, it is now home to 700 inner-city students representing all five boroughs. The Friends continue to found and support important initiatives such as:

- The SUMMA Mentoring Program
- Summer College in the City
- Extracurricular activities, including basketball, softball, cross-country, Model UN, and Mock Trial
- Support for the over 30 Leadership graduates now attending Syracuse University

The Friends of HSLAPS is an Internal Revenue Service approved 501(c)(3) not-for-profit foundation. Our EID number (also referred to as Taxpayer's ID) is 13-3861112. You will sometimes need this number when making a donation, for example, in a corporate employee giving campaign.)

Through the University. Contributions may be made by making a gift to the University at the following web address and earmarking it for "HSLAPS." When donating to SU, please make sure that you specifically mention "High School for Leadership and Public Service" under the "Gift is to be used for" section.

Either way you choose to donate, your contribution is tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law and 100% of your donation goes directly into student activities and programs. All members of the Friends of HSLAPS volunteer their time in addition to donating to the fund.
